Herb Buttermilk Drop Biscuits 2 c. all-purpose flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 6 tbs. solid vegetable shortening 1 c. buttermilk Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add buttermilk. Stir with fork until dry ingredients are just moistened. Drop rounded tablespoons of batter onto 2 ungreased baking sheets, spacing about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
