Baked French Toast Sandwiches 3 tbs. Dijon mustard 12 slices bread, cut 1/2 inch thick 6 slices fully cooked ham 12 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced 3 tbs. butter, softened 4 eggs 1/4 c. milk 1/4 tsp. pepper Spread mustard on one side of six slices of bread. Layer ham, cheese, and tomato over mustard. Top with remaining bread slices. Butter the outsides of the sandwiches and cut in half diagonally. Arrange the cut sandwiches in a greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish. Beat the eggs, milk, and pepper together. Pour over sandwiches. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until sandwiches are golden brown and cheese is melted. 6 servings
